The juji-gatame or cross armlock, is a staple technique at American Judo System. It’s a groundwork move used by many American judokas include Jimmy Pedro, Travis Stevens, Marti Malloy, Kayla Harrison and Mike Swain, among others.
In this video, Jimmy demonstrates the basic way to enter into the juji-gatame roll that ends up in a cross armlock position. He also shows some transition drills including some resistance drills to make it more realistic. Lastly, Jimmy shows how you can transition smoothly into a hold-down. From there, drills can be done whereby uke escapes and tori rolls him back into position.
